The technology company continues to diversify and announced on Monday the launch of its own service of original streaming television content. It is called Apple TV + and will enter the fight for this modality of audiovisual consumption upwards to compete with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon.
The presentation of the new product of the company of the bitten apple had the presence on the stage of director Steven Spielberg , who announced that it will produce content for Apple TV +, as well as renowned actors such as Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell and Jason Momoa , who will participate in some of the productions.
The Cupertino (California, USA) company also unveiled another streaming content service dubbed Apple TV Channels, which integrates programming from Epix, HBO, Showtime, and Starz, among others, in addition to the traditional subscription channels of the American market.
And for the news
Apple also introduced a new news service, Apple News +, whose main novelty is the inclusion of magazine articles, something that does not have its existing free service: Apple News.
News + will allow users to access articles from 300 different magazines, including National Geographic, Time, Vogue, People, Popular Science, Billboard, New Yorker, Sports Illustrated and more.
In addition, subscribers can access paid articles from two major newspapers such as the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times, but not The New York Times and The Washington Post.
In order to recommend articles adapted to the taste of each reader without compiling or sharing personal information with third parties or reading habits, Apple explained that the recommendations are carried out through an integrated system in the device from which the service is accessed.
Apple News + is now available in the US and Canada for $ 9.99 per month (the first month of subscription is free), will reach the European and Australian markets throughout this year. A single subscription can be used by several members of the same family.
Video games are not far behind
The company announced another subscription service to videogames, Apple Arcade, which from next autumn will allow its users to download games on the mobile phone or computer. This is the first subscription service for games on mobile devices and computers, said the company’s executives. Players can download “more than 100 new and exclusive games”.
The technology giant also launched a credit card, the product of a partnership with the bank Goldman Sachs and MasterCard, which will be available in the United States this summer.
