All users always want to have greater privacy of all those elements that we are storing on our mobile devices, whether they are applications, documents, multimedia files or even notifications. For this reason, one of the most sought after options by all is the one that allows us to hide these elements so that no one can access them.
In addition, these security methods are available in most smartphones, since it will also depend largely on the manufacturer’s own customization layer. So some users will be able to hide what they want from their mobile device without the need for third-party applications. Therefore, we will explain how you can hide the different files that you have on your phone.
Hide your mobile apps
One of the great functions that not everyone knows is the fact that we can hide applications, so that only we can continue using them as if nothing else. However, other people looking at or using your mobile will not easily see them. In addition, today we find two ways to hide applications on Android mobiles. Although, unfortunately, not all of them are available.
One of the first ways that we bring you to keep safe those applications that you have on your Android mobile and that you do not want anyone to see is thanks to the use of different user profiles. In case you didn’t know, each user profile has its own settings and applications. In this way, the apps that are available in one user profile will not be present in the other.
In this way, if we install an app in a certain profile and then create a second one, the application that we just installed will not be shown in the second profile. But, you must bear in mind that before downloading a software you must create this second user. To do this, you should also know that the menus will change depending on the manufacturer of your mobile. However, you will have to go to Settings> Multiple users> Add user. Then, a window will appear in which it will inform us that each user goes separately. Once we have read it, we must click on Accept. In addition to the fact that this new user profile will be completely empty, so only those tools that come pre-installed on the mobile device will appear.
As a second option, which will depend on the personalization layer that you’re mobile has, it is an exclusive function to hide apps. In this case, we will have an extra method to hide simpler applications with which we will not need to create a secondary profile. Two well-known brands that have this functionality are Huawei and Samsung.
In the event that you want to hide applications on a Huawei terminal, the way to do it will be by creating a private space, separate from the usual one. To do this, you must enter Settings> Privacy> Private space and then click on Enable. On the contrary, in Samsung mobile devices it will allow us to directly hide them. The first thing we should do is go to Home screen settings> Hide applications. Once inside, we will add those that we want that are not visible to the naked eye.
The trick for folders
In the event that we want to safeguard the folders or files on our mobile without having to download a third-party app, we will make sure that we have a file explorer. Some customization layers already have their own manager, so it will not be necessary to install one.
In addition, that we are facing a fairly easy trick and that it is not exactly a novelty, but that, today, is still something unknown by many users. So if your phone has this type of app by default, it’s time to investigate if it lets us hide files. If not, you will have to resort to a third-party application. Otherwise, we can continue.
So it’s time to do the simple trick of renaming folders or files by adding a period to the beginning of the name. In this extremely easy way, the system will understand by itself that this file should not be visible to everyone. Therefore, the only way to access they will be through the file manager itself.
Of course, as long as you have the viewing of hidden files activated. If not, it will be almost impossible to locate them in our terminal, since the files or folders will be completely hidden. For example, if we rename the folder called “Images”, we will only have to name it “. Images”, then it will be necessary to confirm. With this simple method, we will be able to make the file disappear in just a few seconds.
There is no doubt that notifications are an essential part on any Android mobile device and for anyone. Basically, because it is a good way for us to find out instantly of any notice that reaches us on the phone. The problem is that the simple fact that messages or any notice appears on the lock screen is something that can violate privacy for many users. So, perhaps, the best idea will be to hide them so that they do not appear in plain sight.
Since, if we are not careful, it will only be enough to turn on the panel of our mobile device so that anyone can our messages or another type of notification. Something that becomes very annoying. But, fortunately, on Android we can manage these notifications so that they are not displayed on the lock screen.
In the Google operating system we will have the possibility to adjust the visibility of messages and notifications on the lock screen. That is, it offers us the possibility of preventing these messages from being displayed on this panel, thus preventing someone from reading them without our permission. In addition to configuring they will be really quick and easy, since it will be from our Android’s own settings.
There are several alternatives available in this regard, from leaving notifications, to hiding the message completely. Therefore, on mobile devices with this software system, we can choose the option that best suits our needs. To do this, a series of steps must be followed:
- Open the phone settings.
- Access the Notifications section.
- Tap on Lock screen notifications.
- Choose the option you want. Usually three will appear: Show them, show the notification and not show their content or show nothing. The second option is usually the most used for the simple convenience of continuing to find out what type of notices reach us without their content being displayed. In this way we prevent other people from reading it. Although in some terminals fewer options may appear.
Keep in mind that, depending on the customization layer and the version of Android you have, this configuration could be in another section of the terminal settings. Therefore, if it does not appear with the previous steps, you will have to try accessing the Security and Privacy section, where there is a Lock screen section, in which you should let us manage notifications and their content.
Save your images and video safely
If you use Google Photos on your mobile, you can hide photos and videos that you don’t want others to see. Besides that it is clear that you will not lose them, since they will continue to be available. To do this, we will only have to look for those multimedia files that we want to hide and touch on the upper left of each thumbnail that you want to hide. Then, select the three dots that appear in the upper right part of the panel and choose Move to file.
After this, the mobile will notify us that the photos and videos that we have chosen will be archived. In the event that we have made a mistake, we can undo this action immediately. To access these files we must enter the Library located in the lower right part of the panel and click on Archives. If you want them to reappear normally, move them to the main folder by clicking on the three vertical dots that will be in the upper right and click on Unarchive.
If you don’t use Google Photos, and you only use the default gallery of your mobile, the truth is that more and more people are choosing this option on their smartphones. Although it is not something positive for those who want to hide images from the gallery, as there is not a generalized option for all Android devices and it will also depend largely on the smartphone manufacturer itself and its software layer.
