One of the elements or tools that we use the most throughout the day of our smartphone is not only the touch screen, but also the keyboard that all terminals have. Whether it is the one that is predefined or the one that we have installed later, we always use it, since it is an essential way to communicate with people. And it is that, despite the arrival of the method of sending audios, many remain loyal to writing texts that seem to have no end.
However, it is likely that, on occasion, we have had to face having to correct words that we have misspelled, having to put them again and end up wasting time that was surely quite necessary. For this reason, it is time to know what are the ways that the Android operating system offers us to be able to write texts more quickly without making a single misspelling in them.
Change your keyboard layout
One of the strengths that Android phones offer us is customization, which will be even greater depending on the software layer that our terminal has, be it One UI, MIUI, EMUI, among others. This is why we find a multitude of configurations with the aim of making it much easier for us to use our mobile device, such as writing well.
Surely, one of the main problems that users face is the type of design that the keyboard itself has. Especially, we will notice it if we have changed from one phone to another, since the size of the terminal itself will also influence. However, the Google operating system offers us the possibility, or at least in most cases, of being able to change both its design with its position on the touch panel of our smartphone.
Therefore, we can make the keys themselves a little larger. In addition, it will make life much easier for us to be able to successfully write texts in a faster way. Although, each keyboard will offer us more or less settings when configuring it, including the possibility of eliminating the number row so that it does not always appear visible.
To do this, the first thing we must do is look for the section in which the keyboard menu itself is located within the settings of our mobile device. Once inside, we will have to look for the option that allows us to modify its design or appearance, and establish the one that best suits our writing style so that we can use the keyboard in a more agile way at all times.
Use the autocorrect and suggestions
Depending on our way of writing texts, the functionality that Android mobile keyboards have to self-correct our spelling mistakes is a problem or not. Basically, this keyboard tool will change by itself those words that we have misspelled or when it understands that we have wanted to put something else. For this reason, many times the smartphones autocorrect can be better or worse.
If in your case you prefer to activate it to avoid spending time correcting the words that you have put wrong, you will have to follow this route within the settings of your smartphone. However, keep in mind that it is a generic one, since it may vary depending on the personalization layer of your phone: Language and keyboard> Input assistance> Spell correction and click on the switch to activate this function or disable it.
Another aspect that can improve or worsen our writing while talking to someone are the suggestions offered by the smartphone itself. But fortunately, Android phones also allow us to activate or disable them according to our needs. This function differs from the previous one in the simple fact that it does not automatically correct the words, but rather gives us different suggestions while we are typing, which will appear just above the keyboard of our mobile device.
To do this, we will have to search within the settings of our smartphone for the keyboard section. Then, it will be time to find an option called Show Suggestion Strip or Predictive Keyboard. Once we have reached this point, it will depend on each user whether they have it active or not.
Add shortcuts and more words to the dictionary
The above functionalities will not be the only ones that will help us improve our writing, since we can also make correct use of the dictionary that is integrated into Android phones. And it is that, for those who do not know, thanks to this we can add different terms. Above all, it will be useful so that we do not correct the words that we use regularly. We will even get him to end up suggesting them on his own.
In addition, this is usually one of those cases in which the fact of using several languages while we write can become really annoying. Although we will also have the option to add more languages to our keyboard, as we will explain something later. But, if in your case you prefer to only have one language, your function will be to add words or shortcuts.
For the first case of adding words to the dictionary we will have to enter Settings> Language and writing methods or Input language > Dictionary. Then, we will have to write the words we want one by one so that the mobile device also takes them into account at all times. In this way, if we use different words that the mobile does not recognize, either because it is a different language or because it is written in a different way, we can create these shortcuts to facilitate writing.
And as we said, we also have the alternative of changing the language with the push of a button. With this we will ensure that the smartphone does not go crazy and start bombarding us with suggestions and unwanted self-corrections. To do this, we must search in settings for the keyboard section or Language and text input> Language> Add language. Then, we will have to select the other one that we use the most when writing. Then, with a simple touch on the keyboard, we immediately switch to the other without much effort.
